Stowaway House resides on a small, steeply sloped waterfront lot with dramatic views of Eagle Harbor, Blakely Harbor, and Mt. Ranier in the distance. The home repurposes the foundation of the former residence to define a landscaped courtyard. The Living Room spans the courtyard and is anchored on a concrete pier containing the fireplaces. A frame of prefabricated wood ribs was inspired by photos of the hulls constructed in the shipyards of Blakely Harbor in the 1800’s. The steel-clad pivoting front door is accessed from a bridge which spans the courtyard garden below. The Primary Bedroom cantilevers twelve feet over an angled deck which recalls the outline of the 60’s era home deck it replaced. The four levels of the home cascade down to a boat house at beach level.
