The Basking Moose Residence is perched at the crest of a steeply sloped site in the mountains of northern Idaho. It looks to surrounding pine forests, Lake Pend Oreille, and snowy mountain peaks beyond. Basking Moose consists of three volumes connected by glass bridges. An entry garden directs visitors to the front door where they are greeted by forest views and a winding blackened steel staircase. The living spaces on both floors access cantilevered decks which extend above the sloping terrain. The dark stained cedar siding mimics tones of bark and recedes into the forested slope. Inside the home, cedar ceilings, white oak floors, and a linear fireplace create a welcoming atmosphere in the seclusion of this mountain retreat.
